The Delaware Bio Service Award recognizes individuals who have donated their time and talent, made financial contributions or contributed in other ways to better Delaware's life science community.
“Biosciences represent an essential element of Delaware’s economy with a great potential for continued growth,” said Dr. Bonuccelli. “AstraZeneca is just one company that benefits from the great strides the Delaware Bioscience Association has made to bridge businesses, the state government and academia on key issues that face Delaware’s dynamic biosciences community. It is the innovation of this sector that leads to real medical progress.”
Dr. Bonuccelli was honored for her leadership in developing the Delaware Bioscience Association as a self-sustaining membership organization dedicated to ensuring that Delaware maintains and strengthens its presence as a global leader in the life sciences. Dr. Bonuccelli is also very dedicated to the local community and serves as a member of the board of several organizations such as Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, Delaware Biotechnology Park, and the American College of Physicians Foundation.

Prior to joining AstraZeneca, Dr. Bonuccelli served as Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. There, Dr. Bonuccelli was also Associate Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center and established a new clinical division within the Department of Pediatrics, including provision of sleep studies, documented home apnea monitoring, pulmonary function and bronchoscopy services.
